ACES Academy for Global Engagement

Global Academy

Encouraging faculty to pursue international activites while strengthening relationships with international partners

The ACES Academy for Global Engagement (Global Academy) is a unique training program designed for junior and mid-career faculty in the College. Admitted faculty participate in a series of scholarly and experiential activities designed to prepare them for lifelong academic engagement in the global arena. In particular, the program exposes faculty members to resources available on campus and externally that enable and support international engagement. This program encourages the development of international programs within faculty disciplines and across the College of ACES. Through a capstone international immersion experience, the Global Academy facilitates and promotes strategic relationships with institutions around the world and raises the international status of the College.

Structure

The program requires an academic-year commitment and culminates with an international immersion experience.

Curriculum
Participating in the Global Academy requires an academic-year commitment to the program, which consists of monthly meetings, a visit to Washington D.C., and a international immersion experience.
Application Process

The application process begins in the summer for the ensuing program during the academic year. Scholars are nominated by their Department Head and invited to formally apply to the program.

Funding
The Academy for Global Engagement is made possible through a generous gift from Arlys Conrad.

Fellows

Academy scholars continue to play an active role as Fellows.

Academy Fellow is a title issued to those who have completed the Academy Scholar program. These Fellows serve as mentors to the academy scholars in subsequent program years.  This group of Fellows should be actively involved in the development of the program, serve as mentors to participants, lend their expertise to the formation of the immersion focus and design, and provide presentations to the scholars as applicable.

The Global Academy is currently in its tenth year.
